The conference dinner will be held at Glasgow University Union, a historic building a few minutes’ walk from the main conference venue.
Entertainment will be provided by the JOOT Theatre Company, which proudly presents the debut of its production of four Old English elegies. The Wife’s Lament, The Husband’s Message, The Ruin and Deor will all be staged as dramatic monologues with live musical accompaniment.
The JOOT Theatre Company was established in 1992 as the Mediaeval Drama Group, changing its name in 2003. Under the direction of Dr Jo George of the English programme at the University of Dundee, the Company has staged many well-received productions of early drama throughout Scotland, the Netherlands, Denmark and France. In 2008, JOOT was invited to perform Everyman at the Sorbonne in Paris. To date, this remains one of the company’s most successful productions.
